Project Background

Repairing Your Infrastructure

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRDGC) has contracted us to rehabilitate and repair a section of intercepting sewer 14B.

The portion of sewer that we will be working in spans roughly from Meadowbrook Park to the intersection of Wolf Rd. & Camp McDonald Rd.

Trenchless Technologies

The methods we will use to complete this project include but are not limited to:

Cured-in-place Pipe (CIPP)
This is a lining process that involves the placement of an epoxy impregnated liner into the sewer line and then curing it once it has been positioned precisely.

Spray-in-place Pipe (SIPP) or Geopolymer
This is the primary method by which Michels Trenchless will rehabilitate the nearly 15,000 feet of sewer that we have been contracted to rehabilitate.

Lateral Reinstatement

This rehabilitation is set to employ a total bypass for multiple phases of work. During work on a section of sewer, we will need to temporarily block lateral connections into the main run that is being rehabilitated. During this time, we ask that you do not run water for baths, showers, dish washers or washing machines.

Traffic Controls

During our work, we will need to periodically close a lane of roadway in order to access one or several manholes. There will be flaggers, signs, barricades and other means of directing local traffic safely around our work areas.

Sequence of Work

We are pushing to get boots on the ground and begin working in April of 2024.

Currently, the project is scheduled to run until mid 2026.

Planned Detour

There is a detour planned for the westbound entry side of Old Willow Rd. into the intersection of Old Willow Rd. & Wolf Rd.

Currently, this detour is projected to last roughly two weeks and is estimated to begin between March and September of 2025.
